THE SCHOOL DAY

School starts at 7.45 a.m. and finishes at 4.20 p.m. each day. A normal school day consists of twelve thirty – five minute’s periods. There is a short break of twenty minutes from 10.20 to 10.40 a.m. and lunch break of one hour from 1.00 – 2.00 p.m.

UNIFORM:     The wearing of school uniform is compulsory and parents must ensure that their children are equipped with all uniform items before schools open.

(m)  Maroon blazer with a school emblem (optional)

BOYS:

  • Khakhi trousers-long (ankle length)
  • Khakhi shirt- long (or short- sleeved)
  • Grey trousers (not Khakhi grey) ankle length.
  • White shirt-long or short sleeved

 NB

  1. School uniform is not for use during sports.
  2. Separate items of clothing must be provided for sports. The school will demand to see sports clothes.

ATTENDANCE

LATE COMING

  • Will not be tolerated. All pupils are expected to be in time for the daily morning assemblies; church services; lessons.
  • Persistent late coming without clear reasons will lead to a disciplinary hearing.

ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL

Inability to attend school for any reason must be reported to the Headteacher or her Deputy. In the case of illness, a sick sheet from a hospital or private practitioner must be submitted on returning to school. For any other reason, a note from parent or guardian must be submitted.

ABSENCE FROM CLASSES:

No pupils may be absent from a class without the Administration Permission previously obtained. A pass out slip should be obtained from the head teacher or the deputy’s office.

LEAVING SCHOOL GROUNDS

No pupils may leave school grounds during school hours without written permission from the administration.

PERMISSION TO BE EXCUSED FROM SPORTS

Sport is a must for all pupils. An exemption will be granted on the basis of a medical report from a qualified doctor.

CARE OF SCHOOL GROUNDS, PROPERTY, & BUILDINGS

BREAKAGES

Any breakages must be reported to the Deputy Headteacher. If it is found that negligence is a contributory factor, such damaged will be made good at the expense of the pupil(s) concerned. Walls should be kept clean nor scratching, spoiling or damaging of any school property.

SCHOOL BOOKS

Any schoolbooks and Library books loaned to pupils must be looked after well. Pupils will be expected to pay for lost or damaged books.

LITTER

The dropping of litter of any kind is an offense. Litter should be put in the bins provided. Any littering observed should be reported.

EATING IN SCHOOL

Lunch is provided by the school. Pupils are expected to provide themselves with plates and spoons. Eating in classrooms is forbidden. The chewing of gum is forbidden anywhere in the school.

PUPIL’S PROPERTY AND APPEARANCE

SCHOOL UNIFORM

 All pupils are expected to wear school uniform and be clean and tidy in appearance all the time.

  • Boys should appear cleanly shaven every morning.

NON UNIFORM GARMENTS

Only school colors may be worn in the school. Clothes other than school uniform e.g. wool hats or scarfs even maroon ones must not be brought to school and must never be worn with the uniform.Raincoats are not to be worn in class or on school premises (when it is not raining)

JEWELRY AND MAKE UP

The wearing of jewelry is prohibited. This includes rings, fancy earrings, bracelets, nail polish and tweezing or any makeup of any form. Wearing or earrings by girls must be small gold or silver knobs. The wearing of earrings by males is despicable and in bad taste and will not be tolerated.

NAMES OF PROPERTY

Pupils must have their names clearly marked on all their property.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR PUPILS PROPERTY

The school takes no responsibility for loss of money, books or any articles left unattended anywhere in the school premises or grounds. Money brought to school must be left with the secretary for safe keeping and collected when needed. Any excuses made to the effect– lost or stolen books in an attempt to explain their negligence of work will invite discipline.

Girls

– Condrow no extensions.

– Short hair/ neat plaits.

– no fancy haircuts/fade

Boys

  • No German cuts / fade / fancy hairstyles
  • Plain cut (short hair)

SERIOUS OFFENCES

The offenses listed below may lead to Suspension or expulsion without warning.

SMOKING

Is forbidden in or out of school

DRINKING OF INTOXICATING LIQUOR AND INDULGING IN DRUGS

a)It is a health hazard. It is forbidden. Pupils are not to be found in or near places dealing in liquor viz: bottle store, bars, shebeens etc.

b) Any student suspected to have taken any liquor will be tested using a breathalyzer test.

c) In case of illegal drugs e.g. dagga, police will be called immediately to deal with the case convicted of the offense by the Court of Law, pupils will be expelled from school.

STEALING

Is forbidden – if convicted will be dealt with harshly.

ASSAULTING OTHERS IS FORBIDDEN

Fighting, bullying, carrying of dangerous weapons not allowed in school.

CONDUCT

Disobedience to lawful commands, discourtesy or insolence to staff or visitors and or intimidation of school authorities, will not be tolerated. Conduct, which in the opinion of the school authorities is a disgrace to the school, will be dealt with harshly.

DISRUPTION OF SCHOOL ROUTINE

Activity inciting disruption of normal school routine will lead to suspension or dismissal.

HAZING IS FORBIDDEN

Hazing shall mean any conduct or method of initiation into any student organization, which willfully or recklessly endangers the physical or mental health of any student or person. Such conduct shall include whipping, beating, branding, forced consumption of any food, liquor, beverage, drug or other substance or any other brutal treatment or forced physical activity which is likely to adversely affect the physical health or safety of such student or person or which subjects such student or person to extreme mental stress.

PREGNANCY

A student who falls pregnant at any time during the academic year will not be allowed to sit for any examination in this school. This will apply even if the pregnancy is discovered during the examination period.

GENERAL

VISITORS

No pupil is allowed to receive or talk to his/her visitors without permission from the Headteacher or her Deputy. Any visitors wishing to see the Head teacher must first see the school secretary.

TELEPHONE

The use of the telephone by pupils is not allowed. Important or emergency messages must be left with the Secretary

CELL PHONES/MOBILE TELEPHONES

Students are not allowed to bring cell phones to school. If found will be confiscated and only released on payment of a fine at the end of a period to be determined by the school administration. No case of stolen on a damaged cellphone will be entertained by the school authorities.

DISCIPLINARY ACTION

Students found guilty of serious misconduct will be dealt with accordingly:

The office may take action as follows:

  1. Met out severe punishment.
  2. Summon the parent or guardian.
  3. Refer matter to the school disciplinary committee.
  4. Disciplinary committee may decide on appropriate disciplinary action.
  5. Testimonial will not be given.
  6. DC may recommend expulsion.
  7. Pupils name will be recorded in schools black book.
  8. Pupil may be excluded from sitting for the final examination at this school.
  9. Other cases may be referred to the rightful people e.g. police.

We do hope and sincerely believe that this report will assist in the creation of a peaceful atmosphere conducive to learning in the school. Monitors and prefects are urged to execute their duties without fear or favor.
